August 23, 2021 – Wyomissing, PA – The Olivet Boys & Girls Club and the Wyomissing Area School District tonight announced the launching of a historic partnership that will establish an Olivet site in the West Reading Elementary Center starting September 27, 2021. The site will be first made available to youth in 5th and 6th grade and over time expanded to 4th and 7th-grade students of the Wyomissing Area School District.
“The establishment of a formal Olivet Boys & Girls Club site inside the West Reading Elementary Center gives us the opportunity to provide critical after-school services to the youth of the Wyomissing Area School District in a safe location utilizing a new site model based upon a direct relationship between the educational professionals, the parents, the youth and Olivet. This new model allows us to provide support to Wyomissing youth when they need us and how they need us, by providing opportunities and experiences directly impacting the holistic needs of the student,” said Chris Winters, President, and CEO of Olivet Boys and Girls Club.
Robert Scoboria, Superintendent of Wyomissing Area School District stated, “We are excited to partner with the Olivet Boys & Girls Club to open a new after-school club at West Reading this fall. Olivet is an established leader in Berks County, and we know this program will increase support for our middle-level students and their families.”
“Olivet Boys & Girls Club Board of Directors support and value partnerships within our community that position our organization to deliver quality programs and services to the youth of our community. These efforts are with defined purpose and processes that help children grow and succeed. This new relationship with Wyomissing Area School District is an example of two respected organizations working together for the benefit of our youth,” said John Massaro, Board Chairman of Olivet Boys & Girls Club.
The West Reading Elementary Center Olivet Boys & Girls Club (WREC Olivet) site will be our 11th site. All registered youth will have access to all Olivet Boys & Girls Club programs and services offered by the Club. The site will be open Monday through Friday and reflect the calendar of the Wyomissing District. This Olivet site will only serve the youth in the Wyomissing Area School District.
Information and notifications on the process for parents to sign-up their children for the WREC Olivet will be announced and distributed through the District communication system. Olivet will be announcing the new Site Director in the coming days.
