PCCD Positive Action & Outreach Programs

Positive action is a curriculum designated to build social-emotional learning skills in Olivet club members. This curriculum has been implemented across our club sites for youth ages 6-12 thanks to a generous grant from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD). Positive action is based on the philosophy that we feel good about ourselves when we make positive choices. The curriculum includes 7 units divided by grade level which focus on topics such as self-concept, managing emotions, and self-improvement. By promoting positive thoughts in our club members, encourage them to make positive choices and build their self-confidence.

Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Program

For the past several years, Olivet has facilitated a mentoring program thanks to funding by the Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. The goal of this program is to promote positive outcomes and reduce risk factors for at-risk and high-risk youth in diverse communities. Each year, this program allows over 40 youth across our club sites to be matched with caring mentors who provide social and emotional support. In addition, youth have the opportunity to participate in positive youth development and prevention programming.

Youth of the year

Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s premier recognition program, celebrating the extraordinary achievements of Club members. Each year, one exceptional Club member is selected to be the National Youth of the Year. The National Youth of the Year serves as both an exemplary ambassador for Boys & Girls Club youth and as a strong voice for all of our nation’s young people.
