Luci’s Light

Luci’s Light is a special initiative at Olivet Boys and Girls Club that seeks to coordinate community support for students who suffer the tragic loss of a parent or guardian. The initiative is named for Luci Thomas, a beloved mother and devoted development director at Olivet who passed away from breast cancer in 2013.

Explore below to view the resources available through Luci’s Light.

Individual Support

Luci’s Light provides free mental health services, grocery assistance, and hot meals to students that lose a parent and their families, as well as free Olivet membership.

To request these services, please email Kat Royer at Katharine.Royer@olivetbgc with the subject line: Luci’s Light. Olivet will work to coordinate support for students on a case-by-case basis.

School Support

Luci’s Light also provides this resource packet for school districts to utilize to coordinate a uniform response among all faculty to a recent loss. It can be difficult for all staff to be on the same page, so this resource packet is a great starting point for professional development and/or an action plan.
