AmeriCorps State Grant

OLIVET BOYS & GIRLS CLUB HAS OPENED A NEW DOOR TO CREATING GREAT FUTURES BY RECEIVING THE 2015-2016 AMERICORPS STATE GRANT

Olivet Boys & Girls Club is pleased to have been awarded a highly competitive state-wide AmeriCorps grant for 2015-2016. This grant will allow the organization to harness the people power of a total of 60 young adults, ages 17-24, to improve the lives of 500 K-8 children through academic enrichment, character building and community service. Olivet will be empowering these AmeriCorps members to think critically, grow as individuals and make a difference in their own community.

Our goal is to attract potential members from our community who are in need of employment training and skills and who are often overlooked and underserved.  Members will service 450 hours and receive a small living allowance. This will provide 27,000 hours of service per year by the AmeriCorps members. Members who successfully complete their hours will receive approximately $1,515 in the form of an Education Award. In total, approximately $84,900 in Educational Awards will be awarded to these AmeriCorps community builders upon successful completion of their term.

About AmeriCorps Programs

These members help communities tackle pressing problems while mobilizing millions of volunteers for the organizations they serve. Since 1994, more than 900,000 Americans have provided more than 1.2 billion hours of service to their communities and country through AmeriCorps. For more information, visit NationalService.gov.

AmeriCorps is a program of the Corporation for National and Community Service, a federal agency that engages more than 5 million Americans in service through its AmeriCorps, Senior Corps, Social Innovation Fund, and Volunteer Generation Fund programs, and leads the President’s national call to service initiative, United We Serve.
