READING, PA- Olivet Boys & Girls Clubs is teaming up with local businesses to collect donated school supplies over the next few weeks during a Stuff the Bus campaign.

Donations will be accepted from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 18 at the Chick-fil-A in the Exeter Commons, 4675 Perkiomen Ave. Five Below, Staples and Target are in the same shopping center, and people who donate new school supplies will receive a voucher for a free Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich or chicken biscuit.

Donations will also be accepted from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 25 at Queen City Family Restaurant, 100 Lancaster Ave., which is across the street from Family Dollar.

An Olivet bus will be on site at both locations during the drop-off times.

Freedom Toyota in Hamburg, Lowe’s in Exeter, Salon Twenty-Two and Spa in Pottstown and Stone’s Hearing Aid Services in Pottstown will also serve as drop-off spots for the entire month of August. Stone’s will offer a free hearing evaluation upon request for anyone donating.

Supplies in demand include pencils, pens, markers and crayons; notebook paper and notebooks; folders and binders; calculators; book sox; backpacks; hand sanitizer and tissues; and school uniforms (polos and khakis).

About 84 percent of the children Olivet serves live at or below the poverty line, according to the organization. Purchasing supplies at the beginning of the school year places an additional financial burden on many families.
