READING, PA- Students at Penn State Berks and kids from Reading joined forces Monday to do a little spring cleaning.
The group took part in the Great American Cleanup, gathering to tidy up Baer Park and a one-mile section of the nearby Schuylkill River Trail.
The event was a collaborative effort between the Penn State Berks Center for Service Learning and Community-Based Research, the City of Reading, Olivet Boys and Girls Club and the Friends of the Schuylkill River Trail Community Park in Northwest Reading.
The groups held a Great American Cleanup event for the same section of the trail last year, and did a cleanup of the park last fall. The plan is to make the area into a “safe green space” for the Reading community.
