READING, PA- Albright College students teamed up with children recently to create and celebrate art at the Olivet Boys & Girls Club Center for the Arts in Reading.

It was the second year the college’s chapter of Artists Striving to End Poverty (ASTEP) conducted the program for children who attend 13th & Union Elementary School.

Garrett Solomon, ASTEP vice president, said visual and performing artists at Albright participated in the program.

“Our mission is to awaken the imaginations of children through exposure to art,” he said.

The result of weekly meetings at the club, the performances included poetry, dance, theater and visual arts.

Albright’s ASTEP awarded a $500 scholarship to a worthy student for additional training in the arts.

ASTEP is a national non-profit group based in New York that partners with schools and community organizations across the country.
