Urban 4-H Afterschool Club Educates Officials about Crime Scene Processing
Pottstown, Pa. April 20, 2009: The Justice League, a 4-H urban youth club that works on civics based projects in the Olivet Boys and Girls Club in Pottstown Middle School, had their final meeting of the year on April 20. In an effort to recognize the students’ outstanding efforts, Judge Durkin of Montgomery Co. visited the students and discussed their research regarding crime scene investigation and answered questions about court proceedings.
Forensic Science is just one of many topics covered during the past school year. The Justice League students have studied the legislative and judicial branches of government, developing an educational display for the Montgomery County 4-H fair, and sharing information with their school principal and assistant principal.
The students who have actively participated in the Justice League Project, will be honored by the Penn State Cooperative Extension of Montgomery County with the “Excellence in Youth Award for Civic Leadership” during an upcoming school assembly. The students who participated in the Urban 4-H Club are; Matthew Yeagle, Erin Gladden, Genesis Maradiaga, Danielle Trego, Leeann Egolf , Angelina Stewart, Dakari Rome, Broc Ferguson, Kordaya Brown, Nyasia Smith, Myasia Bursey, Jose Castillo, Jule Rivers.
